Week 4


Week 4

Howdy!  We have a full week this week.  Please make sure you are planning your time well, and don’t forget tutorials are on Wednesdays, 4:00-4:30.  Progress Reports go home Monday!! 

Please keep in mind that this page is an overview of things we hope to get done this week.  In order to know exactly what is happening in English, consult your student's planner where nightly assignments should be recorded.

1.  Finish Metaphor Mania “Casey at the Bat”  due tomorrow

2.  Get new root words, due Wednesday

3.  Finish personal narrative before leaving class today!! (Write about a time you had to make a difficult choice...)

4.  Bellringer  story starter:  When Sally ignored the huge sign on Farmer Brown’s property, “Enter At your Own Risk,” she had no idea what the consequence of ignoring it would be.

Hw:  Metaphor Mania, roots

 

Tuesday

Class Time:

1.  bellringer

2.  Collect Metaphor Mania

3.  “The Highwayman” (ballad and narrative, free verse poem)

4.  Listen to the audio/ballad version of the poem

5.  Watch animation of the poem

6.  Adjectives, Adverbs, Interjections Cornell Notes

7.  RAFT “The Highwayman”  due Friday

Wednesday

1.  Go over vocabulary

2.  E.A. Poe “The Raven” narrative poetry cont’d

3.  Odes:  Students will write their own odes

4.  Grammar cont’d

3.  RAFT collected

4.  Quiz:  Root words, grammar (adjective, adverbs, interjections), and poem
