January 27-31


Hi All,
This week will be another busy one, and it is important you are keeping up with your assignments.  We will be writing two essays this week, a personal narrative and an expository piece that connects to our current novel, Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry.
Monday
1.      Text Structure Foldable
2.     Mini-quiz chapters 7, 8, and 9 ROTHMY
3.     Expository Essay (Staar writing prompt from 2012)
Word "referents" to prevent redundancy-

Hw:  finish novel by Monday, bring a cookbook to class or a copy of a favorite recipe, tic-tac-toe #2 due Friday

Tuesday
1.     Finish Essay
 Prom Night in Miss.
2.     Character Recipe
3.     Create a character recipe
4.     New Vocabulary list distributed
Hw:  Finish character recipe; work on vocabulary; tic-tac-toe #2 due Friday

Wednesday
1.      STAAR practice
Frederick Douglass's Fourth-of-July Speech (compare to the novel)
2.     Character Recipe

Thursday

2.     Personal Narrative Review
3.     P.N. prompt:  Think about a time when you broke the rules whether you were caught or not.  Write about the circumstances and the people involved and the consequences of your actions.
