Class time:  Discuss Friendly letters.  Students will write a warm-up response, which should be kept in the warm-up/vocabulary section of their notebooks.  Students will write me a friendly letter from the point of view of their sixth grade teacher.  A rubric has been distributed and needs to be returned with the final product (letter).

Create an advertisement for THOTS using bandwagon appeal, testimonial, appeal to pity, fear, or vanity, sound devices (repetition, alliteration) or loaded language.  Your advertisement must promote an idea covered in the text such as abuse to animals, cloning, organ donation, border control, slavery, etc. or WRite a one-page paper persuading Opium, the country in the novel THOTS, to change its policy regarding eejits or cloning.  Clearly state your position or a possible solution. Provide convincing reasons for your position.
