7th Period "A Much Ado About Nothing"

50 comments:

  1. The blog is pretty cool. The green is somewhat bright. It isn't too bothersome. Anyway, Hero appeared to be shy during time being quiet. Her friends appeared to have comforted her by telling her about love and how everything is going to be happy when she's married. They also made dirty jokes which I believe always makes people happy. Also I can't tell if this is referring to when she is dead. *ahem* Reposted.

  2. Cool Blog... Dont get sucked into the media mainstream Mrs Greene! I think Hero was shy while she was being quiete but she is fully aware about whats happening. Also her friends comfort her by telling about the joys of marrage. Are they just helping her cuz she's the Kings neice?

  3. "Mrs Greene is somewhat bright"? smooth Nicolas... Does any one know how to post on someone else's comment

  4. Yep Daniel I was going to remark about how it was pun-like but I was like nope.

  5. I actually think that Hero wasn't shy during the some what wedding. She was more in shcok as to why in the world would Claudio say such things about the woman he loved. So minus the "shy" factor. I think that if Beatrice would have gotten the chance, she would have been all up in hero's face going "i told u so in the first place" and all stubborn about the whole situation.

  6. you guys are SO off topic...:/

  7. I think you're pretty much right Shravya. Beatrice does seem like she would do that.

    ReplyDelete
  8. i do think that hero's friends only told her a whole bunch of things about how marriage is a good thing when they themselves didn't kknow for sure how it would be. They were just saying all that stuff just to make the king's niece happy.

  9. How does Hero feel about Claudio and her dad during the time when she's quiet? What lengths do Hero's friends go to in order to bring her comfort. Why? Provide some type of textual evidence to help prove your point.

I think Hero feels shocked. She's amazed and disgraced that they shink the cheated on Claudio. Her friends feel sorry for her and try to help her be comforted. They pretend she's dead and try to prove her innocent. Beatrice is mad at Claudio for accusing Hero and believes Hero is faithful.
    "BENEDICK
Think you in your soul the Count Claudio
    hath wronged Hero?
    BEATRICE
Yea, as sure as I have a thought or a
soul." (Much Ado About Nothing 4.1)

@Shravya; I agree, Hero was more shocked than shy. She was speechless from her shock. I don't know what you mean by the last sentence though.

@Daniel; Are you referring to when she was accused of being unfaithful? I think that is the part we are talking about

@Nicolas; I'm pretty sure this is referring to act 4 scene 1.

  11. I think Hero was just dumbstruck. This is supposed to be her shining moment, the day she get married, and her husband to be is accussing her of having an affair. She was probably at a loss for words because her mind went blank with shock. Her friends feel bad and try to help her feel better. They make fake her death in order to get back at Claudio.

@Nicolas: "They also made dirty jokes which I believe always makes people happy." Was that quote intended to be a pun as well? If not, you may want to go out and ask people if dirty jokes actually make them happy.

@Daniel: I totally agree with you about being careful with blogs. I have had times where I start reading a blog and I sit there for hours looking at the screen before I realize the time.

@shravya: I am pretty sure that Hero is the GOVERNOR's niece, not the kings.

P.S. Mrs. Greene, that thing you told me about massaging your temples actually works to get ideas actually works!

  12. U guys must have nothing to do! Sorry!!!!

  13. ok... Well i think that Hero wasnt shy at all. she was trying to get over the shock. It was her perfect day and she was all excited. But then comes Claudio and ruins everything. With out even consullting her he storms in and accusses her of a sin. I mean if i was accused like that i wouldnt just keep quiet. I would either go into shock, or yell back at them; probably the latter. But!Her friends came in for the rescue. Well if you count her friends as the friar and Beatrice. The friar seemed to believe she was innocent and pure, and right away devised a plan for her saftey and well being. Though Beatrice believed that Hero was innocent she was probably saying "i told you so" in her head. From the beginning she was the one who sort of told her that men were a bad idea. I agree of course. (just kidding). And i'm sure they helped her because they are friends. Isnt that what friends are supposed to do?

  14. Hero was shocked after what happened during her wedding. Claudio accused her of cheating on him, even though she didn't. She's speechless that her father and Claudio would think that she did something like that. Her friends tell her how wonderful marriage is to comfort her. Also, they tried to help her by faking her death to fool Claudio and make him feel guilty.

  15. ok well i agree with all of you guys who said hero was in shock and denial.

  16. oh and mrs. greene the green is a little too bright maybe we could change the font color so its easier to read. like black or something.

  17. How does Hero feel about Claudio and her dad during the time when she's quiet. What lengths do Hero's friends go to in order to bring her comfort. Why? Provide some type of textual evidence to help prove your point.

I think that Hero is very shocked at the fact that Claudio, her future husband had even said and accused her of not being a pure wife. With this, those who were on Claudio's side or part of who set the plan up were all against Hero's side. She was accused of something she didn't even do and that's why she seemed so surprised when it happened. Hero's friends such as Friar stood by her side and didn't respect or try to follow what the rumors were spreading. As Friar said:"...and tell everyone she has, in fact died." (Shakepeare 167)He was on her side and tried to help and comfort her to try and prove she's actually pure and to try to change the minds of those against her.

Also, Zach said "Her friends feel sorry for her and try to help her be comforted", and that Beatrice is mad at Claudio for what he said to Hero. I agree with this because it shows who is and who's not believing what's truthfully real.

I also agree with what Shravya said about Hero not really having the shy factor. She really was more shocked about what was happening and that everyone believed what Claudio said more than what she was saying, which was the truth.

  18. Daniel: Hero's friends are helping her because she's their FRIEND not just because she's the king's niece. and my eyes hurt from the green

  19. I think Hero was felling really bad for beeing accused of something she did not do. She felt mixed fellings towards her dad. I mean someone is not going to be happy if their dad's ready to kill them. She most likely felt angry at Claudio for falsely accusing her. She even faints from all that's going on.

@Risigan I agree with Hero, but she should have talked up and told them where she really was that night

@Daniel I think your talking about something else entirely, but I agree about the blog part

    @Spam Who are you?

@Sharvya & @Risigan Um she's not the king's niece or the governor's niece! HERO is the GOVERNOR'S DAUGHTER

  22. yeah all of you guys who said that Hero was shy, she was just stunned about what she had been accused about. Hero was shocked and was speechless in response to Claudio's accusation.

  27. Hero felt shy until a point. Knowing Hero's personality she wouldn't talk very much in any situation but I would completely agree with the people that said she was very excited for her wedding. Hero was suddenly pushed back when Claudio embarrased her in front of everyone for something she never did. She was disgraced and somewhat angry at Claudio for his behavior. She was also probably very curious on how Claudio even thought of this idea that she had cheated on him.

Speaking of Hero's friends, Beatrice does go up to her to tell her that she was always right about men. But the good thing is that Beatrice trusts Hero and knows that Hero couldn't have cheated on Claudio. Leonato takes things like this really badly since he is an important person in the community. As a father, though, he could have stood up for his daughter like the Friar.

    ReplyDelete
  28. shravya...now look who's getting off topic
(not saying i agree with lokesh though)

ms. greene why are all of the times messed up? I posted mine at around 7:15

  29. I cannot figure out how to fix the time Keerti. Perhaps someone can come help me with this. Daniel, this will be my only blogging.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Jessica, I agree with you on how you said "shocked." Hero did became shocked when this happened.

Daniel, I don't think they are helping her because she is the GOVERNER'S DAUGHTER but because she is right. The Friar, Beatrice, and Leonato-after trying to kill himself with a dagger-are all supporting her because they trust her.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think that Hero felt shocked. She was probably so surprised and horrified that she couldn't talk. I would definitely feel like that if my true love and fiance was telling lies about me in front of my family and friends. She probably also felt disappointed and confused about Claudio, since she thought he loved her and it was supposed to be her perfect day. When Leonato was ranting about her, she felt betrayed, because her father should know her better than to think she would do that. Hero's friends pretend she is dead so that Claudio will feel bad. Benedick challenges Claudio to a duel because Beatrice thinks Claudio wronged Hero. They do this because they think she is innocent and they love her.
When Benedick declares his love for Beatrice and she declares her love for him back, he tells her he'll do anything for her. Beatrice asks him to kill Claudio.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think that hero was very upset and shocked at the way that the guys were treating her. It seemed as if she wanted to tell everyone how she did not do any thing but no one was listening to her. The things that Hero's friends were doing were very radical. They wanted to go as far as to kill claudio just to comfort hero.

    ReplyDelete
  33. @ keerti, i agree with what you said about Hero probably being curious as to how Claudio came up with the idea. id be curious.

@daniel, why do you keep talking about how blogs will suck you in?!? random much?

    and who is spam...

    ReplyDelete
  34. (This is Anna, I have no clue how to change my name)

Hero felt betrayed, mad, and shocked. Little did she expect her soon-to-be husband would accuse her of cheating on him with no actual evidence. She is suprised that he accused her but I don't think she is being quiet just to keep her mouth shut. She is being quiet because the Friar told her to in order that she could act dead.

Friar: Marry, this, well carried, shall on her behalf Change slander to remorse. That is some good. But not for that dream I on this strange course, But on this travail look for greater birth. She, dying, as it must be so maintained, Upon the instant she was accused, shall be lamented, pitied, and excused of every hearer.

@Hannah, I'd feel the same way that you said in your paragraph, if my fiance was telling rumors and saying them to my family and accusing me of cheating, I'd be a bid upset.

@Keerti, I agree with the whole 'beatrice trusts Hero'. Beatrice was the only one, except for the Friar that actually believes Hero is innocent.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yeah...Hero did feel pretty betrayed after Claudio accused of her cheating...i mean I would have slapped him if I were Hero...but of course no one would do that. I would be pretty curious to find out who ever put that idea into Claudio's head...especially if he had been so in love with her just a few days ago.
I am so happy for Beatrice, for she actually trusts Hero! She knows the real truth and what really lies inside of Hero.
As for Leonato, I would say that he has no heart at all. He only said that so he could keep his reputation. He didn't even care about what Hero would think and feel, but only thought about how this would affect HIM.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think Hero was overwhelmed and shocked when her father and Claudio turned on her as quickly as they did based on a couple of shadows. Also, she was surprised by how Claudio acted perfectly fine until the wedding where he embarrassed her.Beatrice sacrifices her love for Benedict unless he challenges Claudio. The Friar then made the suggestion that Hero should act dead to protect her from humiliation because he knows she didn't cheat. He took the role of her father when Leonato didn't do a single thing to help his daughter. He was under the influence of people with power (Claudio as a price etc.). I would be embarrassed if I was Leonato and didn't stand up for Hero because the whole time she was innocent.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Okay....sooooo i think that Hero is shocked, and she really needed her friends to get through a time like this. Although, I think that Hero really would take Claudio back though. I mean, she loves this guy and he didn't do anything wrong. Although he did make some false accusations, he didn't know any better. Also, Hero's friends did make some dirty jokes to make her feel better, and I guess that would make someone feel better and laugh.

@hannah: I think that Hero was shocked but I think she could talk, but she chose not to, number one because she was passed out and number two she just figured out that her soon to be husband just dumped her in front of a bunch of people.

@Shravya: I don't think that Hero's friends were just saying that to make her dad happy, I mean they comforted her and took care of her.

    ReplyDelete
  38. @ Hannah, I totally agree with you. Hero must have been so shocked that she couldn't have taken the pain any more.

@ Keerti, DUDE TOTALLY!!! Who wouldn't be curious in when your future husband/wife like all of a sudden starts betraying you ON YOUR MARRIAGE DAY..and says they don't like you anymore and ACCUSE YOU OF CHEATING...and also embarrass you infront of EVERYONE! Well..thats pretty harsh

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree with Sirisha. Leonato does have one. He doesn't even trust his own daughter. Doesn't family come first???

I agree with Keerti too. Hero was gentle and shy. She was way to innocent to cheat on Claudio. And Claudio should have known this too. He should have questioned her first, calmly, then trusted her answer.

    ReplyDelete
  40. @nick I really feel that in every way hero was not shy she was just shocked. She was way to shocked to feel shy.

@hannah i really feel that you were correct in saying that hero was shocked i really feel the same way

    ReplyDelete
  41. Honestly Hero just felt betrayed, humiliated, and completely shocked. She had no idea what Claudio was talking about, and was surprised to see her own father turn against her. Hero was speechless and she didn't bother to say anything more than "No I didn't do it". None of the people there would've believed her anyways. Her friends brought her comfort by making jokes and trying to lift her mood. Beatrice even threatens her love for Benedick if he doesn't revenge on Claudio. They didn't know exactly what she felt, but all experienced the humiliating scene at the so-called wedding. Hero's friends love her and know she's too innocent and loyal.

Caroline: I agree. Leonatao should be ashamed that he jumped to conclusions at his own daughter. He should know her well enough to not assume the first thing he hears is right... especially when there is no real evidence of Hero cheating.

Hannah: I can't imagine how Hero, or anyone would feel being emotionally destroyed by your true love and fiance. It was in front of the whole community! Hero was brave for not being all dramatic and revengeful for that.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I think that Hero, along with being very shocked and surprised, was also very confused in the situation. She didn't expect ANYTHING like this to happen! I think that although Claudio had made some false accusations on her, she still loved him, and was only desparate to clear her name. I think that she wanted her father to be on her side, instead of trying to find a dagger to kill himself...

She obviously had no idea what was going on:

Leonato: Are these things spoken, or do I but dream?
Don John: Sir, they are spoken, and these things are true.
Benedick: This looks not like a nuptial. (meaning, this doesn't really look like a wedding)
Hero: True! O God! <----------- Omg, Hero being shocked.

I think that her friends are very supportive of her, and also want to clear her name. They even go to the extent of faking her death! They make a plan to either clear Hero's name, or let her disappear as a nun.

@Neil: I agree, Claudio really didn't really do anything wrong; he was being tricked himself. I think that Hero definitely would have taken him back.

@Nicolas: Haha, I agree. Dirty jokes from her friends are definitely a sign that they are trying to cheer her up, and to tell her that things will eventually return to normal.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Do you mean the part in Act 4, Scene 5 where Hero is masked? If so: Even if Hero was angry at her father for wrongly accusing her, I suppose she must have been relived when he calmed down and came back to her side to help her. As for Claudio, she must be prepared to forgive him since she is once again on the verge of marrying him. Her friends seem very concerned with securing her comfort and happiness. When she is disgraced they are prepared to help her fake her own death, and Beatrice is even ready to have her disgracer killed. Then, they create an elaborate plot of disguises and white lies to repair her marriage.

  44. To Gordon: You're absolutely right, she was so confused and shocked she didn't defend herself and just went along with her friends' solution. This whole plot was really confusing for Hero, what with Don Pedro and Claudio's proposal-in-disguise scheme.
To NIcolas: Yep, you're pretty much right. Dirty jokes make me feel better, and telling them to angry friends tends to get me out of trouble a lot...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hero probably feels really betrayed by her dad, and by Claudio as well. She's also probably in a lot of shock. Her friends don't really seem that supportive either. The only one who ever really supported her with his heart and soul was the friar. He also came up with that plan to protect her. What did the others do? They did almost nothing.

Beatrice wants the main target of the plan (Claudio) murdered.
Beatrice: I love you with so much of my heart that none is left to protest.
Benedick: come, bid medo any thing for thee.
    Beatrice: Kill Claudio.

Leonato feels really guilty about turning on Hero.
And tries his best to make it up to her.
Friar: There is some strange misprision in the princes.
    (a billion lines later)
Leonato: Being that I flow in grief, the smallest twine may lead me.
Hero's not dead, and he knows that. Leonato's only in greif because of his concience.

@Audrey: Claudio flat out betrayed Hero. Maybe the cheating thing was only a mistake, but Claudio didn't even try to doubt it. He was sure that it was her right from the start. The bottom line is that Claudio doesn't trust Hero enough to be a suitable husband.

@Gordon: Hero's friends were not really supportive of her. Read the explination above, because I don't feel like retying it.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I guess since she is at a disadvantage already by not knowing about anything thats going on. She can't clear up the situation because everyone has turned on her even as far as her own family. In a state of shock she does not know what to do. Her friends on her side also are also clueless so resort in faking her death. The characters trust for each other is strange and they seem to only believe what they want to believe. I think they should only trust themselves and what is reasonable.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I think that while Hero was quiet, a million different thoughts must've been flying through her mind at once. She was shocked and had not anticipated such an accusation. I think that she was intent on clearing her name, and regaining Claudio and her father's trust. I'm sure that she would have gladly forgiven Claudio because if she truly loved him, she would realize that he too was tricked and confused. I think that her friends truly worried over her well-being, and therefore comforted her. You know a good friend when they offer to fake your death.

Savannah and Caroline: I agree with you two, Leonato was a bit harsh. I think that he has the right to be shocked, though he could've taken it a little bit better. I think that if he had questioned her calmly, less people would have been hurt/confused. I don't know if he acted that way because he was truly shocked, of if he did not want his own reputation to be tarnished.

Gordon: I also agree with you, that she didn't have any idea what was going on. She was speechless and didn't know how to respond.

    ~Kalyan

  48. While Hero was being quiet, I think that she had many things going through her head. First of all, she was probably furious with her father for not believing her, and everyone else because they had no real proof. Well, also the fact that she didn't do it all,and had no idea why they were accusing her. Causing her, previously, to faint from all the shock and hate. Only her firends supported her, and suggest she played dead for a while, simply because i think that in their minds, the had no clue of what else to do.

XDDD. i just can't believe they actually fell for it. Couldnt the friar have checked her pulse or something?

@Chris : i agree that she couldn't clear anything up, and had no idea of how she could possibly explain herself, therefore she fainted. But honestly, if anyone else was put into a situation like this... who would believe them?
